Alinda Villas: What is different with this new developer?

An interview with some of the principal actors in this project.

  Thalang

March 2024

Show unit now open!

We meet with some of the owners behind the development of Alinda Villas, making waves in the Phru Champa area of Thalang.

Window on Phuket: We should start right away with what is the difference between your project and other developments in Phuket?

Thierry Chausse (Lead Designer): It probably would be easier and shorter to say what are the similarities? But I suppose the first difference is our approach. What we’ve seen in Phuket, Koh Samui or even Bali never really impressed me. Of course, there are some really impressive villas with beautiful pools, fancy materials, high roofs, etc. Houses where holiday renters will take great pictures for their Instagram posts! But what happens once you go past those first pictures and you actually try to put that suitcase somewhere and cook a meal for your family?

Window on Phuket: You probably realise that Instagram and real life are a bit different…

Thierry Chausse (Lead Designer): Exactly! And that’s why, from the start, we said that that is not what we want to build. So, the first difference between Alinda and other projects is that we designed houses that could become real ‘homes’ with sensible spaces, volumes, functions and materials. That is, in itself, radically different from the typical holiday rental villa. We’re building homes for families to live in and we spent a lot of time and energy thinking about it and designing them.

Window on Phuket: What else is different?

Samuel Gandossi (Project Manager): I have 25 years experience in the construction industry. I know how buildings age and it’s not always pretty! We decided at the beginning that we would not cut corners and build a cheap product. Most of the things that will make a difference in a building’s quality, not to mention it’s cost, are invisible: The type of waterproofing you make on a roof, the wall insulation you use, the adhesive materials you use for your tiles or your pool, the type of pumps or air conditioners you install. All things that buyers know nothing about but that we, in the industry, are well aware of. We build these villas like if we were building our own homes! The cost of fixing a villa down the line can be high and we want to avoid that for our clients.

Window Phuket: That’s impressive! Anything else?

Thierry Chausse (Lead Designer): Oh yes! Have you ever seen the list of options in some Phuket developments? It’s easy to sell an empty box cheap. Try filling it up after… We know what is needed in a ‘home’ and we decided to provide it as standard. There’s no need for clients to have to do things themselves when we know very well how to do them.

The villas will come standard with built-in closets, storage spaces with shelves, fully-equipped kitchen, LAN and Wi-Fi networks throughout the villas, a fully-landscaped garden. In fact, the only options we will have will be a furniture package, artwork package, curtains, outdoor furniture, bed and bathroom linens and the option to build counters in the Thai Kitchen and pantry.

Gay Pratumwan (Lawyer & Project Counsel): We also created ownership solutions that will make it much easier for clients to buy and own the property. Buying property in Thailand can be intimidating and there are quite a few hoops to jump through, but we can make it easier.

Window on Phuket: You’re right, that’s a lot of differences! So, what is the same as other developments?

Thierry Chausse (Lead Designer): Well, like in some of our competitor’s developments, the villas are beautiful! The pool looks amazing! We have used beautiful materials inside the villas: Marble, granite, teak wood. We used showers and faucets from TOTO, a top quality Japanese brand. Those are the things clients will see when they visit our show house, but Alinda Villas is so much more than just that! I guess we need to meet and tell our story to convince people we are the right choice.

Alinda Villas showhouse can be visited 7 days a week from 9 am to 5 pm on Phru Champa Road, Thalang District, just 10 minutes away from Boat Avenue.
