At the inaugural Christofle Yacht Style Awards Ocean Marina Yacht Club were crowned “Best Marina Development” in Asia, seeing off stiff competition from marinas throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Announced at a lavish gala dinner in Phuket and attended by more than 300 of the region's marine industry movers and shakers, the awards recognise the best of the yachting industry in Asia and internationally.

Speaking about the win, Mr. Scott Finsten, Harbour Master of Ocean Marina Yacht Club, said “It's a proud moment for myself and all the team at Ocean Marina Yacht Club. We are very honoured to have been recognised for all our hard work and we will strive to further improve our facilities and deliver a best-in-class service to our customers.”

Ocean Marina Yacht Club is the largest marina in South East Asia with 380 wet berths for yachts upto 65 metres (215 foot), hard stand and dry stack storage, and haul out capabilities upto 75 tons. A fully serviced marina with onsite tenants supply marine products and services ranging from refit and repair, to chandlery and charter services, there is also an onsite hotel with restaurants, fitness, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, meeting and conference facilities.

“It's humbling to see the competition at the awards and that we were announced as the winners, and while this award is very gratifying we are not resting on our laurels. We are undergoing further expansion of our facilities this year that will see an additional 60 berths added to the marina, replacement of some older berths and improvement in overall efficiency,” added Mr. Finsten.

With the Thai government's EEC project driving infrastructure development, and recent changes to the customs regulations allowing international yachts to stay longer, the signs are positive for continued growth in Thailand's East Coast marine leisure sector and Ocean Marina Yacht Club's expansion will cater to the increased demand.

The Christofle Yacht Style Award is the latest in a string of accolades won recently, including “Best Marina in Thailand 2017” from the Asian Lifestyle Tourism Awards as well as “Best Amateur Sports Event of the Year in Thailand” at the Asian Sports Industry Awards (2016) and “Asian Regatta of the Year” at the Asian Marine & Boating Awards (2014) for Top of the Gulf Regatta.
