Calling all crab lovers!! If you absolutely love crab, then here's the place for you! Eat it 'til your heart's content on crabs cooked in a variety of ways that you're sure to like!

The Crab House serves the freshest and tastiest crabs on offer from the local fishmongers, people who catch seafood in the Andaman Sea every day. All our crabs are live, giving that extra sweetness, cleanness and freshness to the flavour of the meat that you may not find anywhere else! You can even see them in the tanks in the restaurant.

Although crabs are the specialty of the house, The Crab House also serves a variety of seafood that guests may enjoy with crab dishes or on their own. Both crabs and seafood are cooked in a Thai - Chinese infusion style.

Drop by for some amazing crab and seafood dishes. Just keep an eye out for the massive red crab mascot outsite the front window when you're on Phungmuang Sai Gor Road in Patong. You can't miss us!

The Crab House is not far from the hustle and bustle of Jungceylon shopping centre in the heart of Patong, with convenient of handy parking right outside. Like us, you´ll have no trouble spotting the restaurant - there´s an enormous fibreglass crab dominating the front of the building!

We were greeted by staff as we entered and were offered a choice of non-air conditioned downstairs or air conditioned upstairs. We chose the latter, with a view looking out through large windows onto the street.

For starters my partner and I shared Soft Shell Blue Swimmer Crab with Papaya Salad... it´s hot... watch out for the cunningly concealed chillis. We also shared BBQ Tiger Prawns and I took a Crabmeat and Sweet Corn Soup too, one of my favourites. Crab House´s offering was the best I can ever remember.

Our main course choices were straight from the fresh tanks. We shared a 1 kg Black Crab in a luscious mildly spicy yellow curry and a must-have Chilli Black Crab. We munched through our crab dishes the only way you can: forget knives and forks, fingers are the only tools to use. Fortunately the shells were already conveniently cracked.

In 1956, Cher Yam Tian and her husband Lim Choo Ngee came up with the recipe for Chilli Crab in Singapore, selling it from their push cart. They would have been proud of the creation at The Crab House. I first tasted Chilli Crab in Singapore some 35 years ago and The Crab House´s creation rekindled my taste for it - and reminded me that it is not a hot/spicy dish, more a sweet and savoury combination.

To help our crab on its way, we started with the Californian blend, Moute Premium White, and followed with the Moute Special Red. Although The Crab House´s wine list is not extensive, it does offer a comprehensive selection from Australia, New Zealand, France, Chile and Italy. And if wine with your crab isn´t for you, there´s a good selection of beers and spirits.

Finishing off with Chocolate Lava Cake, Latte and Green Tea, our Crab House evening was an all-round success, as you´d expect in a restaurant operated by a true professional. Owner Narapong (Bia) Phoneam gained a lot of experience working in his family´s Thai restaurant in England and was inspired to open The Crab House in Patong. You´ll be glad he did!
