Tann Terrace Phuket

With a prime location on the absolute beachfront at the southern end of Karon Beach, the trendy Tann Terrace Phuket is one of the hottest spots on the island. The laid-back café, beach bar and restaurant – with a few boutique hotel rooms – for rent offers up a relaxing atmosphere, plenty of Instagram-worthy spots, and an extensive menu of Asian Fusion and international favourites.

Seating at Tann Terrace Phuket consists of sun loungers, day beds, hammocks, garden tables and chairs scattered around the al fresco wooden terrace. The day we dine at Tann Terrace Phuket, we choose a plush yellow sofa near the beach as the place to have our meal.

The menu at Tann Terrace is extensive. There is a seafood option with nearly every dish, and the majority of the menu focuses on pasta, pizza, fresh salads, Thai favourites, a splattering of vegan items and desserts. The day we dine at Tann Terrace Phuket, the marketing team chooses our lunch dishes for us; we are treated to a variety of signature favourites, including the Tann Salad, Tagliatelle Tann Phuket Lobster, Grigliata Mista di Pesce, Tann Pizza and one more pizza, the Par Par.

When the food arrives, I am surprised to see how big the portions are. The Tann Salad is a strange combination of mixed salad, mozzarella cheese, parma ham, tuna, boiled egg and sun-dried tomato. While the flavour combination works, it’s not served with its own salad dressing, or any salad dressing, which is a shame as the olive oil available on the table really didn’t do it justice.

As I don’t eat seafood, my dining partner tucked into the next three signature dishes – Tagliatelle Tann Phuket Lobster, Grigliata Mista di Pesce and the Tann Pizza. The Tagliatelle Tann Phuket Lobster features homemade pasta in a creamy sauce with a large Phuket lobster; the Grigliata Mista di Pesce is a platter of fresh seafood favourites, including prawn, squid, fillet of fish, mussels and BBQ scallops. The Tann Pizza is a charcoal base pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, squid, anchovy, sun-dried tomato and dried chili. My dining partner says that all of these dishes are very tasty and full of flavour.

Located directly on Karon Beach, Tann Terrace Phuket is open daily from 12 noon until midnight. With an extensive coffee, cocktail and wine list to accompany the menu, it’s a good place to go for a late lunch or dinner.
